Leadership Training Programme Empowers CISCE Affiliated School Principals for Effective Implementation of NEP 2020

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has announced a leadership training programme designed to enhance the competencies of principals from its affiliated schools. The objective of the programme is to equip school leaders with the necessary skills for the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in their respective institutions. The training will be conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Education International (NIEI) in Singapore.

 

The programme aims to enlarge the educational capacities of school leaders and garner support from school management as they prepare for the implementation of the NEP 2020. It will provide an overview of global emerging trends in education, the impact of NEP 2020 on the curriculum and school systems, and an understanding of the new normal in Indian schooling. Additionally, the training will equip school leaders with the necessary leadership skills to navigate the challenges in shaping policies and practices to meet the new requirements of schooling. The programme also facilitates an exchange of ideas and views between experts from NIEI International, Singapore, and the participants.

 

NIE International is a renowned national teacher education institute in Singapore, offering comprehensive teacher education programs for aspiring and in-service teachers, as well as departmental heads and principals of schools.

 

The training programme will accommodate a maximum of 60 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. While the seats are limited, most schools have welcomed the council's initiative to conduct such a training programme. Principals recognize the importance of equipping themselves with the skills necessary to navigate the changes brought about by the implementation of  NEP 2020.

 

Sujoy Biswas, the principal of Rammohan Mission High School in Kolkata, applauds the council's decision and emphasizes the need for school leaders to adapt to the new changes in education. He believes that the training programme will empower principals to effectively run their institutions in line with the requirements of NEP 2020.

 

Terence John, the principal of Julien Day School in Kalyani, expresses interest in the training sessions but mentions that the final decision regarding participation is yet to be made by his institution. He acknowledges the crucial role of school principals in managing teaching responsibilities and ensuring adherence to the prescribed curriculum. John believes that the training programme will enhance the skills of school leaders in these areas.

 

Rev. Rodney Borneo, the principal of St. Augustine Day School in Shyamnagar, highlights the significance of the training programme in empowering school leaders to play a more substantial role in managing and improving education in the new education scenario. He believes that the programme will equip principals with the necessary tools to navigate the challenges and drive positive changes in their institutions.
